In 1994 Porsche introduced the 993 to replace the four year old 964. The cleaner, more aerodynamic, polished style of the 993 was to be the ultimate final housing for the last of air-cooled Porsche engines. The new model also featured revised suspension and chassis, with power output increasing to 268bhp from the 3.6 litre flat six.

The 993 has long been regarded by many as the ultimate incarnation of the 911, being the last of the air cooled models. It was available as a coupe and convertible, with a Targa joining the range for just 2 years – 1996 to 1998.

Of some 3646 UK 993s registered between 1994 and 1998, just 336 were Targa models. This is one of just 4 registered in 1998, making it a very rare Porsche 993 indeed – and one of the last 993s to roll off the production line.

Finished in Arena Red Metallic over soft Grey leather, this unmodified, 3 owner car is complete with a ‘healthy set of receipts’ showing it has been well cared for during it’s 20 years.

The car also boasts the Bilstein suspension package, an optional extra selected by the first owner when purchasing the car. New discs and pads have been fitted this year, as well as four recent Continental Sport Contact tyres. It should be noted that the car still wears it’s original factory correct Porsche alloy wheels.

In 2014 the car benefitted from a ‘glass out’ respray in original Arena Red, during which the rubber roof seals around the Targa opening were also replaced.

If we said that Arena Red is the best colour for a 993, we wouldn’t be the first…

Classic and Sports Finance Say:

“The Porsche 993 has been on the up for a few years now. Arena red? Last year model? Targa roof? Get in there while you still can!”
