About the Bentley S3 Continental:
Powered by a 6230cc V8 engine, notable changes over the S2 included split front seats for driver and passenger, a 7% increase in power, improved headlights and lighter power steering. In 1962 it was a phonemonally expensive car – the saloon had a list price of £6,126. Staggering when you consider that a contemporary Jaguar Mk X was listed at £2,022.
In 1959 Rolls Royce had acquired coach builder H.J.Mulliner & Co (HJM). In 1961, HJM was merged with Park Ward, creating Mulliner Park Ward (MPW). Production moved to the MPW premises in Willesden, North London, and the HJM facilities were abandoned.
The Continental version of the S3 was 40-50% more expensive than the already expensive S3, hence only a quarter of S3 cars are Continentals. 311 Continentals were made, 291 by Mulliner Park Ward and 20 by James Young. Mulliner Park Ward cars were either fixed head or drop head coupes.
About this Bentley S3 Continental:
This is a very sought-after car, being one of just eleven built to this attractive design. It is finished in a handsome shade of dark green, with lovely beige leather, piped green, which is complimented by beige carpets and green sheepskin over rugs, and fitted from new with a Triplex, green-tinted roof panel, with a clip on cover which matches the headlining.
BC100XA has been with one family for the last twenty three years. The history is particularly impressive, running to two large box files, and includes a large quantity of invoices showing maintenance and repairs, a handbook with correct continental supplement, various correspondence, a run of old MoT certificates going back to 1985, and more besides.
In summary, a rare, desirable and handsome car, which we feel has a bright future! Just fitted with five new radial tyres.

“By comparison with other continentals, such as the R Type & S1 fastbacks, this is a positive bargain”
“A staggeringly handsome car from both inside and outside..”
