About the Aston Martin V8 Zagato
The Aston Martin V8 Zagato was first seen at the 1986 Geneva Motor Show, showcasing Zagato’s modern take of the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato of the 1960s.
Based on an Aston Martin V8, the all-alloy 430bhp Coupe was an instant hit, with orders being taken before the design had been finalised.
Aston Martin built 52 coupes and 37 convertibles between 1986 and 1990, with this being 1 of the 51.
About this Aston Martin V8 Zagato
Chassis 20013 was purchased by actor and comedian and well know motoring enthusiast Rowan Atkinson in 1998.
He commissioned Aston Martin Works to turn chassis 20013 car into a C2 specification racing car capable of competing in the Aston Martin Owners Club series.
This car was then campaigned at national level by Rowan Atkinson, with Works support and with varying success over 3 years. It was then retired from active duty before being sold on in 2004.
The current owned has cared for the car since 2016, adding further development and refinement to enable public road use. It still has the works prepared 482 bhp fuel injected 5.3 litre engine but also boasts refrigerated air conditioning, re-trimmed original Zagato seats, storage compartments, carpeting and interior appointments.
This is arguably the most unusual, enjoyable and collectable Aston Martin V8 Zagato of the 90 or so examples made.
