About the Aston Martin V8 EFI:
The Aston Martin V8 essentially began life back in 1969. The model ran through series 1-5, with Series 5 cars first appearing at the 1986 New York International Auto Show.
Built between 1986 and 1989, these Series 5 V8s were equipped with electronic sequential fuel injection, whereas previous models had carburettors.
The V8 EFI has a smoother and more fuel efficient power package rated at 310bhp, due to the new electronic fuel injection system. This also took up less space beneath the bonnet than the old carburettors, therefore the later model Aston Martin V8’s did away with the bonnet bulge that was synonymous with earlier cars.
It was this iconic shape of Aston Martin that graced our screens when EON productions decided to put the Aston Martin brand back into the James Bond franchise, hence The Living Daylights featured a V8 Volante and used 2 V8 Coupes during filming.
Production ceased and after just 59 coupes had been built and the new 1990 Virage model was introduced.
